Edwin L. Smith

Edwin L. Smith is a veteran litigator specializing in complex cases. He has tried more than 50 jury trials to verdict. He has special expertise in the areas of products liability (including medical products, physical exercise and therapy equipment), contractors= liability, construction defect, premises liability, property and inland marine claims, false arrest and imprisonment, assaults, errors and omissions (attorneys, architects, insurance and reinsurance brokers, adjusters, podiatrists, dentists), fine arts losses, complex coverage disputes, OL&T, automobile and hospital liability.  Having represented excess and reinsurance carriers, Mr. Smith has also developed a keen awareness of claims handling from a broader perspective than that usually associated with trial counsel.

Mr. Smith is a graduate of Brooklyn Law School, and a member of the New York and Federal Bars, the New York State Bar Association, Nassau County Bar Association, the New York County Lawyers Association, the Defense Research Institute, the Defense Association of New York and an associate member of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America.  He has served as a per diem Administrative Law Judge for the Bureau of Adjudication of the New York Department of Health and as an arbitrator for the American Arbitration Association.  His community involvement has included service in the Jericho Volunteer Fire Department, Trustee of the Birchwood Civic Association and Chairman of the Board and Trustee of the Jericho Jewish Center.
